Philosophy

"Having been brought up as part of the digital age, I like many others have embraced the power of "digital". Whilst the creative process starts with the first glimpse through the viewfinder, this is just the beginning.

Working from home I strive to look "beyond the lens". For me, photography is not only about capturing the moment, but about embracing its beauty. Digital technology allows me to explore and question what is reality and what is fantasy and create unusual thought-provoking perspectives.

The threefold Memories of Tomorrow Photography logo is derived from the World Triad symbol. Its origins lie in Oriental philosophy. It is also found in ancient Celtic symbolism. It was adopted by Western Gnostics as an emblem of cosmic creativity, the threefold nature of reality or fate, and the eternally spiralling cycles of time. In Japan it was maga-tama or mitsu tomoe, the world soul... In Bhutan and Tibet, it is still known as the Cosmic Mandal, a sign of the Trimurti. Like the Yin Yang, it also represents eternity. This universal meanings of this symbol are ideally suited to the philosophy which I adopt in all my work.

Pictures like words, are unique in the way that they can exist on all planes of time simultaneously.

They can serve to preserve the precious memories of times gone by... the past.
They can report and paint a picture of today... the present.
They can represent our hopes and let us dream... the future."
